Lovingly restored soundtracks to the only two big screen Doctor Who films ever made - the 1965 release DR. WHO AND THE DALEKS and 1966 DALEK’S INVASION EARTH 2150 A.D.
The music was composed by Malcom Lockyer and Bill McGuffie with sections enhanced by electronic sounds created by Barry Gray, famed for his work with Gerry Anderson. The album also includes contemporary single releases and a 20 page inlay booklet packed with memorabilia and detailed production notes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
”The Daleks are coming! Yes, two unreleased Dalek-related scores from the 60s have just landed. Dr Who & The Daleks also includes Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 AD and, apart from three rare singles (also present here), none of this has ever been released. These are unlike the Dr Who scores you may be familiar with - we have large orchestral numbers right through to slightly swinging Bondy sounds with bongos and twang. Two very different composers are at work here, MALCOLM LOCKYER and BILL McGUFFIE, and both are capable of intriguing work, so the CD is full of pleasing incidentals and some novel descriptive sequences - some of which were used and some which weren’t. It can come across as a little old fashioned and dated, but it’s worthy of investment for those into period scoring. There’s also a treat for anyone into the experimental, electronic side of things from this era, as the last cue offers six minutes of Barry Gray’s effects for the Dalek City. It’s great to see Silva Screen using the original and fabulous movie poster as artwork for this release too.” - Record Collector 4*
